Introduction and Royal March of the Lion
The movement begins by a brief introduction that advertises the entry of the first animal, the lion. It opens a landscape of savanna burned by the hot rays of the sun. The herb has increasingly frantic movements. Suddenly it opens, and behold, superb,
the king of the animals!
The repeated chords of the pianos in a march rhythm emphasize
the cadence of the step of the animal.
The solemnity of the piece is rendered by clear and incisive sonorities.
The lion is presented by a melody which has
a very marked rhythm and shows its character
and its superiority on the other animals:
it's a strong, powerful, majestic entry.
During the movement, the lion several times
emits its
terrible roar
.
