Fossils
Fossils are not only the petrified remainders of animals and plants of prehistory: according to Saëns Saint, they are fossils especially the musical critics, who, because of their aged mentality, show not to understand the new tendencies of the music. In this piece the musician makes fun of musical critics by using four tunes: “Macabre Dance”, symphonic poem written by the same Saëns-Saint, in which it is described the dance of some skeletons on the tombs of a cemetery (the tune is interpreted by the xylophone);)

Ah! Vous dirais-je maman”, a French popular melody used even by Mozart; Au clair de la lune”, a small well known French song;Io sono docile”, a famous aria taken from the opera “Il barbiere di Siviglia”, by Rossini.
